Are you an experienced programme planning professional who can bring clarity, control and insight to complex transformation programmes?

We’re building a talent pool of experienced Lead Programme Planners for potential future opportunities within Capita Public Services.

In these roles, you would work within a Portfolio Office planning team to develop, maintain and assure integrated plans across large, complex programmes. Working closely with senior portfolio and programme stakeholders, you would provide clear schedule insight, identify risks and dependencies, and help establish consistent planning standards that support effective governance, monitoring and delivery control.

Job Description:

As we continue to grow our portfolio of programmes and projects, we’re always interested in connecting with experienced programme planning professionals.

If your background aligns with our future requirements, we’ll keep your details on file and contact you when a suitable Lead Programme Planner opportunity becomes available. This is a great opportunity to express your interest early and be considered for upcoming roles.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop, maintain and assure integrated plans and schedules across complex programmes and portfolios.
  • Collate and analyse schedules at different levels, creating a clear portfolio view for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track progress, milestones, dependencies, critical paths, resource constraints and the impact of risks on delivery.
  • Provide planning insight for executive reporting, constructively challenging schedule information and highlighting emerging delivery issues.
  • Facilitate planning workshops and work closely with senior stakeholders to build coherent, achievable plans.
  • Promote planning and scheduling best practice through quality assurance, coaching and continuous improvement of standards and frameworks.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience of programme planning and scheduling within complex delivery environments, with lead-level opportunities requiring expert capability.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, including the ability to promote effective use of the tool and support others in applying it.
  • Experience managing complex schedules, cross-functional dependencies and large-scale projects or programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence, challenge and tailor planning outputs for different audiences.
  • Practical knowledge of critical path analysis, dependency mapping, milestone management, planning governance and schedule quality standards.
  • Experience working within a portfolio, programme or enterprise PMO environment and applying consistent planning disciplines.
  • Experience of recognised delivery frameworks such as P3O, MSP, PRINCE2, Agile or hybrid delivery would be advantageous.
  • Experience within Central Government, the wider public sector, regulated environments or complex client settings would be advantageous.
  • Flexibility to travel to Capita offices and client sites across the UK on an ad hoc basis.
