This position will develop customer relationships, generate profitable sales and work closely with Operations and technical teams to build the capabilities required to deliver high-quality services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and other regulated manufacturing customers.

Specific Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

Develop and execute a strategic plan to grow Life Science business throughout the assigned territory.

Identify and secure new customers while expanding existing relationships with engineering, maintenance, automation, metrology, quality, validation and management personnel.

Develop opportunities involving instrumentation, process controls, calibration, metrology and technical services.

Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and site assessments through solution development, proposals, negotiation and closing.

Maintain a qualified sales pipeline and accurate forecast; identify capital projects, facility expansions and recurring service opportunities.

Build relationships with EPCs, engineering firms, system integrators, OEMs and other industry partners.

Instrumentation, Metrology & Calibration

Develop opportunities involving pressure, temperature, flow, level and analytical instrumentation; controls, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair and lifecycle services.

Expand on-site and laboratory calibration services, recurring calibration programs and long-term service agreements.

Understand customer requirements for traceability, documentation, quality systems and regulatory compliance.

Position our technical services to improve reliability, support compliance and reduce customer operating costs.

Operations & Service Development

Partner with Operations, Engineering, Instrumentation and Calibration teams to translate customer needs into executable service offerings and scopes of work.

Identify required staffing, training, certifications, equipment, processes and documentation.

Collaborate on estimating, pricing, scheduling and resource planning to ensure commitments can be delivered safely, reliably and profitably.

Help establish repeatable processes, evaluate service performance and develop scalable capabilities to support long-term growth.

Remain engaged after the sale to support successful execution, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Required Competencies

Minimum five years of experience in Life Science instrumentation, controls, calibration and/or metrology.

Experience serving pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device or other regulated manufacturing customers.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

Demonstrated success in technical sales, business development or account management.

Strong understanding of process instrumentation and measurement technologies, with working knowledge of calibration and metrology principles.

Ability to communicate credibly with technical professionals, plant leadership and executive-level customers.

Strong prospecting, relationship-building, negotiation and closing skills.

Business judgment and the ability to connect customer needs with practical, profitable service solutions.

Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to manage a territory independently while collaborating across teams.

Willingness to travel throughout NC, SC and VA; valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

Established relationships within the North Carolina Life Science manufacturing market.

Experience selling instrumentation, automation, calibration or metrology services to Life Science customers.

Familiarity with GMP, FDA-regulated environments, validation, qualification, traceability and documentation requirements.

Experience developing recurring service agreements or building a new territory or business.

Relationships with EPCs, engineering firms or system integrators serving Life Science customers.

Experience with Emerson/Rosemount, Micro Motion or other major instrumentation platforms.

The Ideal Candidate & Measures of Success

The ideal candidate is a technical business builder who can discuss instrumentation with engineers, calibration requirements with metrology professionals, and reliability, compliance and cost with plant leadership. They take ownership, work effectively with Operations and are comfortable developing a business where capabilities and processes may still be evolving.

Success will be measured by new customer acquisition, revenue and pipeline growth, recurring service agreements, development of operational capabilities, gross margin, service execution and customer satisfaction.
