Lower School Homeroom Teacher

Reports to: Assistant Head for Teaching & Learning: Lower School

FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-time; School year

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Head for Teaching & Learning: Lower School, the Lower

School Homeroom Teacher will plan, develop, and implement an effective instructional

program to maintain a classroom environment that supports each student’s social, emotional,

and cognitive growth and development in accordance with the policies and philosophy of The

Lamplighter School. The Lower School Homeroom Teacher will also collaborate with

colleagues while maintaining a positive team attitude.

Job Responsibilities:

• •Plan, develop, and implement curriculum for use in the classroom
• •Revise and modify curriculum accordingly throughout the year, as necessary
• •Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds
• •of the students served
• •Bring a data-minded approach to tracking student progress with an attention to detail
• •Collaborate with team members, other grade level teams, and special area teachers in
• •planning and implementing grade level curriculum, cross curricular projects, and vertical

• •Cultivate effective professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
• •Create positive educational climate for students
• •Partner with the Student Support Team in creating and implementing support plans for

• •Attend all required school meetings and public-relations events, including participate in

• •Engage in professional development to stay abreast of current topics in education
• •Fulfill expectations for report writing and assessment of student work and progress

• •Perform all other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• •Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• •Knowledge and experience teaching ages 6 - 10 years
• •Experience in designing curriculum (Literacy, Mathematics, and Social Studies)
