Who are we?
Howden is a global insurance group with employee ownership at its heart. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of insurance. We are united by a shared passion and no-limits mindset, and our strength lies in our ability to collaborate as a powerful international team comprised of 24,000 employees spanning over 56 countries.
People join Howden for many different reasons, but they stay for the same one: our culture. It’s what sets us apart, and the reason our employees have been turning down headhunters for years. Whatever your priorities – work / life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering – you’ll find like-minded people driving change at Howden.
Introduction
As an Operations Technician, you’ll provide product-line technical and administrative support to London-based broking teams, acting as a key contact for day-to-day queries. You’ll help maintain accurate premium, policy and client processing in line with Group policy and London Market requirements.
You’ll also support the functional management team in developing technical capability across the wider team. Your work will connect broking colleagues, internal teams and external interested parties, helping documentation, invoicing and complex debiting matters progress accurately and on time.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll coordinate technical processing from documentation and invoicing through to data integrity and issue resolution. You’ll also share knowledge through testing, training and project activity.
- Act as the main liaison for London-based broking teams, providing technical guidance and resolving day-to-day queries.
- Manage client administration, policy changes and invoicing, checking that outputs are accurate, timely and aligned with Group policy.
- Coordinate London Market coverage and pricing documentation, including slips, quotes and indications, with internal and external interested parties.
- Complete data entry, credit control and subjectivity follow-up, maintaining accurate records and escalating urgent or complex debiting issues appropriately.
- Contribute to user documentation, system testing, training delivery, data integrity monitoring and project work.
- Support the functional management team by helping colleagues build technical capability and by reviewing work where required.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll bring practical experience of London Market insurance processing and be able to explain technical information clearly. The criteria below distinguish the essential evidence needed for the role from useful, non-mandatory systems experience.
- Experience working with Lloyd’s and the wider London insurance market, including relevant processes and procedures.
- Working knowledge of FCA requirements relevant to insurance intermediaries and the ability to apply them in technical administration.
- Evidence of auditing, checking or supervising work for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
- Clear written and verbal communication, together with numeracy suited to premium, policy and invoicing activity.
- Experience using Acturis, producing LPANs or working with Xchanging / DXC technology.
- An industry-related qualification.
