Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic DIB & MRTFB in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at Letterkenny Army Depot, Quality Assurance Division, performing Non-Destructive Evaluation inspections, supporting aviation readiness, ensuring compliance, and contributing to mission-essential maintenance operations.

Duties

  • Administer general, specific, and practical examinations for production Non-Destructive Test (NDT) inspectors and maintains the centralized depot qualification and certification tracking.
  • Conduct metallurgical investigations and non-destructive evaluations independently or jointly with engineering personnel on incoming materials, components in storage, and down-depot production items to identify material anomalies.
  • Serve as technical evaluator for shop-floor special processes such as welding, plating, cutting, forming, and heat treatment of metals and verify non-destructive and destructive test results.
  • Assist senior specialists in evaluating emerging inspection technologies, automated tools, and upgraded testing methodologies for depot workload integration.
  • Research, review, and assist in formulating local process specifications, inspection criteria, and standardized work instructions for overhaul, repair, and modification programs.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the Experience AND/OR Education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level which includes developing, administering, and grading general, specific, and practical qualification examinations to certify and recertify production inspection; planning and conducting technical investigations to author, revise, or interpret local process specifications; and conducted incoming quality acceptance testing and shelf-life serviceability evaluations. OR Education: Successfully completed a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, or textiles. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
