Summary of the Role
The Sales & Operations (S&OP) Planner will be primarily responsible to lead & manage the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process for assigned product groups in Terumo Asia Pacific (TAP) to achieve optimal demand and supply management performance. The role will partner with the Country Supply Chain, Commercial and Marketing, Finance and uses sales, marketing, analytical and statistical data to effectively validate future product demands and partner with manufacturing sites to ensure supply. The duties include demand and supply planning, inventory management, analysing statistical data and generating forecasting solutions to lead the planning and inventory optimisation processes for the TAP region ensuring inventory targets are achieved. This role is an individual contributor who will act as the liaison between the local and regional management teams for all aspects of the demand and supply management process. In addition to the role requires close cross-collaboration with Global & Regional S&OP, Finance, RAQA and other key stakeholders. This role will also partner with the Regional Planning Director, TAP to drive efficiencies for TAP by improving processes to resolve demand and supply issues while ensuring financial and customer requirements can be achieved.
Key Responsibilities
Drive S&OP process and improvements regarding forecast accuracy, inventory optimization, and support supply chain cost minimization through collaborative working across functions.
1. Demand and Supply Planning
Manage the rolling 18 months Demand Plans and execution of all replenishment orders (Stocking, Back to Back, Drop ship) to optimize and meet supply, inventory, cash flow and service level targets.
- Accountable for the Consensus Demand accuracy and timeliness of submissions of 18 month S&OP demand rolling forecast and replenishment forecast on monthly basis.
- Provide input and structure to the S&OP process managing forecast and demand whilst partnering cross functionally with Global/Regional Supply Chain, Suppliers/ Manufacturing sites, Sales, Marketing and Finance.
- Lead & active management in the Sales & Operations Planning process - Portfolio, Demand & Supply reviews.
- Compare and identify the gap in unit and dollar between S&OP forecast and Financial forecast, derive possible gap closing initiatives and highlight risk and opportunity.
- Review historical and projected sales trends (Sell in, Sell Out, Sell Through), research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
- Tactical S&OP: Manage the Weekly Exceptions Review process with escalation of any issues and change in forecast, report or escalate as appropriate.
- Long Term S&OP: Manage the S&OP, demand and supply planning for all commercial divisions, engaging and executing best practices by measuring performance through agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with Sales, Marketing, Regulatory and Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
- Drive cross-functional discussions to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions, supported with scenario based simulations to meet operational and customer excellence.
2. Inventory Management
Responsible for inventory management by conducting risk assessments on products analysing supply trends, demand factors and at-risk product mitigation, ensuring the management of product obsolescence through inventory reviews and re-balancing efforts.
- Ensure inventory levels are at an optimum level and classified into ABC categorization, analyse and report on inventory turns ratios to meet customer demand and in line with financial budgets.
- Ensure stock availability for finished goods and packaging material, as well as smooth redressing operation and importing operation, in order to achieve monthly sales target.
- Update and track inventory levels report weekly in line with latest thinking and report any deviations to forecast.
3. KPI Performance management
Responsible for generating, maintaining & improving reporting dashboards measuring and monitoring end to end Supply Chain KPI’s, including inventory days of supply, obsolete/slow moving inventory, Inventory value and projection, inventory turns ratio, forecast accuracy & bias, stock write off vs provisions etc.
- Conduct detailed predictive analytics to analyse supply chain data and make recommendations to improve performance and reduce costs
- Conduct product lifecycle management and analytics ensuring end to end processes are cost effective, customer centric and conducive to effective inventory management and in line with financial budgets.
- Regular review, update & reporting of key planning parameters aligned to business KPI’s and support management with risk assessments and mitigation activities.
4. Master data/Systems management
Ensure that critical forecasting and inventory planning inputs and parameters are updated in timely manner in all planning systems (customer forecast, new product introductions, lead times, stocking status etc.
5. Process/Operational Efficiency
- Propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy and supply chain process improvements for the region
- Constant review of Planning models with continuous improvement and recommendation plans in place.
- Ensure planning models are in sync with operations and business models
- Participate in supply chain projects as needed based on the analysis conducted and recommendations identified.
Functional / Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of S&OP & IBP methodology, forecasting, demand & supply planning process and statistical forecasting approaches
- Results and solution oriented
- Good business partnering approach and stakeholder management
- Ability to analyze datasets, identify insights and actions needed
- Strong business and finance acumen
- Solid knowledge and experience in SAP S4 and IBP
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS office and other data analysis tools
- Demonstrates ability to manage change and remain focused under pressure
- Ability to be flexible and drive for results, even when all the requirements have not been defined
- Able to work independently and apply calculated risk in decision making
Education & Experience
- A degree in Business, logistic management, or equivalent working experience within supply chain planning/ order management (min. eight years)
- Experience in leading/ supporting Regional S&OP / IBP cadences
- Experience in SAP S4 and SAP IBP
- Proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of the financial and operational impacts
- Advanced knowledge in MS Office particularly Microsoft Excel is essential.
- CSCP/ IBF/ Oliver Wright trained or certification preferred.
