The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation (APFC) is seeking a Risk Analyst to join its three-person Risk & Compliance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, this position offers an opportunity to gain broad exposure to investment risk management across public and private markets. As part of a small, collaborative team, you will have meaningful opportunities to contribute, expand your knowledge, and develop professionally.

Principal Responsibilities

Ensure comprehensive and timely capture of positions and exposures to identify and measure risks

Update and maintain risk models and risk tools

Analysis of portfolio structure and sources of risk versus benchmarks

Conduct industry and market research; collect, analyze and summarize data

Develops understanding of risk management approaches of external portfolio managers

Performs attribution analysis of portfolio risk and returns and compares to active risk sources

Maintains and develops private equity, infrastructure cash flow and risk modeling

Monitors portfolio positions, holdings as well as exposure to market, credit, and liquidity risks.

Regulatory compliance reporting

Maintains proficiency with key analytical tools including Aladdin, eFront or other Risk Analytics tool; Bloomberg: Burgiss; Microsoft Excel and Office Suite

Special Risk-Related Research Projects

Potential asset classes: public equity, private equity, infrastructure, hedge funds, fixed income, distressed debt, and other asset classes as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, business administration, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related quantitative field

No directly related professional experience required

Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills

Ability to analyze information, identify issues, and communicate findings and potential solutions

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

MBA, master's degree in finance, or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation

One to three years of related experience in investment management or financial services

Experience with investment risk analysis, risk reporting, or operational risk management

Familiarity with investment risk management systems, such as Aladdin

Experience evaluating existing methodologies and practices and recommending improvements

Ability to develop clear, user-friendly reports and presentations that communicate risk information to management

  • Compensation & Benefits Information
  • The base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications (DOE). This role is also eligible for Incentive Compensation in accordance with APFC’s Incentive Compensation Plan, with a maximum annual bonus of 5% of base salary, tied to total fund performance.
