Server Operation Engineer II

What this Job Entails:

The System Administrator is expected to facilitate operational support to and on behalf of the assigned team. The assigned team supports and maintains a variety of large and global scale systems for building management and physical security operations. The skill set required is industry typical 'systems administration', including working knowledge of various networking systems. Work is ticket based, and the team would be expected to procedurally work through tickets (submitted via a template) to resolution.

Scope:

• •Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
• •Works on problems of moderate scope
• •Receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects

Responsibilities:

• •Large Scale Data Center Build Out: Install, configure, and maintain data center hardware and software infrastructure
• •Incident Response: Participate in incident response activities, including on-call rotations, to address data center related incidents and minimize service interruptions
• •Troubleshooting: Respond to and resolve technical issues within the data center ranging from software bugs, hardware failures to network issues
• •Performance Monitoring: Monitor server performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement necessary adjustments to optimize server performance and ensure scalability
• •Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
• •Automation: Identify opportunities for automation and develop scripts or tools to streamline related tasks and improve operational efficiency
• •Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and application developers

Qualifications:

• •Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, a related field or related experience
• •Solid understanding of hardware, linux and virtualization technologies in a data center production environment
• •Proficient in server administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers
• •Experience with monitoring tools and techniques to proactively identify and resolve server performance issues
• •Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
• •Knowledge of the interdependencies of data center functions and technologies
• •Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• •Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• •Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• •Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Ansible)
• •Experience with massive remote OS installation such as PXE boot
• •Knowledge of out-of-band / lights-out server communication methods, such as IPMI and NCSI
• •CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Associate, CCNA or Red Hat Certified System Administrator
