Gulf Stream Construction Company is looking for motivated, driven individuals to join our team for a summer internship supporting operations and growth across our Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA locations. As the premiere full-service general site contractor in the Southeast, Gulf Stream Construction brings unparalleled expertise to every phase of site, civil, and infrastructure construction.

This internship offers hands-on immersion in the estimating and project management side of the construction industry — ideal for engineering students who want real-world experience before entering the workforce. You'll work directly alongside experienced estimators, project managers, and superintendents on active projects, gaining exposure you won't get in a classroom.

Requirements

What You'll Do

• •Support project pursuits through the pre-construction and proposal phases
• •Review construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings to determine scope of work and deliverables
• •Perform quantity takeoffs using both conventional methods (scaling, counting) and estimating software
• •Assist with building cost estimates as assigned
• •Help plan and implement earthwork models using 3D modeling software
• •Participate in project planning meetings and progress reviews
• •Build strong working relationships with project teams, Superintendents, and Project Managers
• •Provide day-to-day project management support to Superintendents and Project Managers
• •Help track and manage project submittals through review and approval
• •Assist in preparing monthly payment applications
• •Take on additional responsibilities as assigned, with room to grow based on interest and initiative
• •Follow all office and jobsite safety policies and procedures

What We're Looking For

• •Actively enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Construction Science and Management
• •Junior standing or higher
• •Available to work full-time, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for the duration of the internship
• •A driven, entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine interest in the construction industry
• •Strong attention to detail
• •Solid problem-solving and communication skills
• •Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
