the posting

At IMC, technology is not a department; it’s at the heart of everything we do. Developed in-house, our innovative software makes millions of trading decisions daily, and we win by making better and faster decisions than our competition.

IMC's Platform Engineering team in Sydney works closely with our global counterparts to deliver the runtime environments and services on which IMC's cutting-edge trading and business applications run. We work on a wide variety of systems and tools that utilize a combination of in-house, open source, and third-party technologies. We are currently looking to expand our Application Platform team.

The Application Platform team helps turn IMC software into running applications. We develop and operate scalable, self-service systems and tools to configure, distribute, deploy, upgrade, and operate trading and supporting components in data centers around the world. We use input gathered from a range of internal stakeholders to design and implement creative solutions to efficiently keep tens of thousands of services and applications running and up to date.

Your Core Responsibilities:

Develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-performance, globally distributed Go applications.

Collaborate with teammates, stakeholders, and internal customers across local and global teams.

Partner with customers to understand their needs and design platform capabilities that help them configure, deploy, and operate software more effectively.

Support customers, unblock teams, and turn recurring issues into platform improvements.

Own the end-to-end service lifecycle, from requirements gathering and implementation to deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.

Help operate and support the team's systems during Sydney business hours.

Use automated testing and frequent deployments to deliver high-quality features quickly and iteratively.

Balance trade-offs between latency, throughput, simplicity, scalability, reliability, and maintainability in a complex technology landscape.

Your Skills and Experience:

1-3 years of professional software engineering experience and proficiency in a programming language is required (Go, Python, or Java)

Strong analytical skills and interest in solving complex problems programmatically

Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.

Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux environments.

Exposure to distributed computing and modern cloud-native software design.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

You have a DevOps mindset and are comfortable working across the entire application lifecycle, from development and testing to deployment and operations.

Prior knowledge of financial markets or trading is not required, but curiosity and a willingness to learn are essential.
