At Forto, we are at the forefront of change, harnessing the power of AI to revolutionise logistics. We want to reinvent digital supply chains to be transparent, frictionless and sustainable. From day one, our mission has been to simplify global trade – creating a seamless and efficient logistics process.

About the role

As Team Lead Group Reporting & General Ledger, reporting to the Head of Accounting, you'll lead the team that owns Forto's general ledger, IFRS consolidated financial statements, and HGB statutory accounts. You'll partner closely with FP&A, Corporate Finance & Investor Relations, Tax, Treasury, and our external auditors to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant reporting across the group.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop the team, fostering a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Ensure general ledger integrity across all entities, including the chart of accounts, journal entry review, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Own Forto’s group close (monthly, quarterly, and year-end) and consolidation, including intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, and FX translation.

Prepare the monthly IFRS consolidated financial statements and notes, and the annual HGB single-entity financial statements for the German entities and management reports.

Lead the annual audits (local and Group) as the main point of contact for our external auditors.

Assess complex and non-routine transactions (e.g., IFRS 16 leases, IFRS 15 revenue and cost recognition, IFRS 9 financial instruments, IFRS 2 share-based payments) and prepare technical accounting memos.

Lead the IFRS 18 implementation, effective from 1 January 2027.

Maintain group accounting policies and the reporting manual.

Required Skills and Experience

8+ years experience in group reporting, general ledger accounting, consolidation, or audit, including 2+ years leading a team of accounting professionals.

A degree in Accounting or Finance, and a professional accounting qualification (e.g., or Wirtschaftsprüfer/Bilanzbuchhalter, CPA, ACCA, CA).

In-depth IFRS and solid HGB knowledge, with the ability to turn standards into practical guidance.

Experience running a multi-entity close, preparing consolidated financial statements, and managing external audits.

Experience with ERP and consolidation systems (e.g., LucaNet, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) and advanced Excel skills.

A structured, detail-oriented, hands-on approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting topics to non-finance audiences.

Ability to manage several stakeholders at the same time, especially during closing processes

Actively and continuously searching for improvements of our financial processes

Fluent written and verbal English and German.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience in logistics or a fast-paced tech company.

Experience using automation or AI to improve finance processes.

Experience in modeling financial solutions (e.g. in regard to the valuation of options, ECL-assessments).
