Description

Build the Future of Technical Excellence at Plunkett’s

At Plunkett’s, we know that exceptional service starts with exceptional people. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Training & Technical Services Director to lead the evolution of our technical training, field capability, and technical services functions.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring our technicians, supervisors, and operations leaders have the knowledge, skills, and support needed to deliver outstanding service today and meet the demands of tomorrow. The individual in this role will assess what is working, identify opportunities for improvement, and build scalable systems that strengthen technical expertise and operational capability across the organization.

As a member of the Leadership Team, the Training & Technical Services Director will collaborate closely with Operations, HR, and fellow leaders to help shape and execute company strategy while ensuring Plunkett’s develops the field and technical capabilities needed to achieve its long-term vision.

While this role requires strategic leadership, it is also highly collaborative and hands-on. Success will come from understanding the realities of the field, working alongside technical and training teams, and translating those insights into practical, effective development programs and technical support systems.

Lead Training & Technical Capability Strategy

  • Assess current training programs and develop a scalable, multi-year strategy for technical and field development.
  • Evaluate existing programs, preserve what works, and implement improvements that support future growth.
  • Ensure training, technical services, and field capability evolve alongside acquisitions, geographic expansion, new services, regulatory changes, and customer expectations.
  • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team, helping shape and execute company priorities and strategic initiatives.

Develop Organizational Capability

  • Improve new-hire training and accelerate speed to safe, confident, independent productivity.
  • Build meaningful development opportunities for technicians, supervisors, and operations managers throughout their careers.
  • Establish clear technical and operational competency expectations and meaningful measures of readiness, effectiveness, and performance.
  • Expand the use of field coaching, technology, AI, and just-in-time learning to strengthen knowledge transfer and performance.
  • Use data, field feedback, and business outcomes to continuously improve training effectiveness and guide future investments.

Lead Technical Services & Expertise Development

  • Strengthen the organization’s ability to support complex accounts and challenging pest management situations.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource while building the capability of others to increasingly provide that expertise.
  • Develop systems for coaching, knowledge sharing, and expertise transfer across the organization.
  • Build bench strength and ensure critical knowledge and technical expertise are broadly distributed throughout the company.

Lead and Develop Teams

  • Lead and develop the Training Manager/team, Technical Director, Specialty Services Manager, and other technical resources.
  • Identify and leverage experienced technical experts to support training, coaching, complex-account support, and knowledge transfer.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and technical excellence.

Partner Across the Business

  • Work closely with Operations and HR to align training, technical development, workforce planning, and organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to reinforce learning, improve field execution, and identify capability gaps.
  • Maintain strong relationships with industry partners, manufacturers, licensing organizations, and technical resources.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Deep pest management expertise with strong technical credibility among experienced field professionals.
  • Proven success leading technical, training, or operational teams.
  • Strong coaching and teaching abilities with experience developing both content and people.
  • Experience evaluating programs, measuring effectiveness, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Ability to use data, business outcomes, and operational performance to guide decision-making.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Ideal Candidate

  • Strategic thinker who can balance long-term vision with practical execution.
  • Collaborative leader who works effectively across departments and functions.
  • Comfortable moving between executive-level discussions, program development, team leadership, and technical problem-solving.
  • Skilled at influencing and building alignment among leaders and teams.
  • Passionate about developing people, strengthening organizational capability, and building scalable systems for growth.
  • Practical, hands-on leader who stays connected to field operations without needing to be in the field full-time.

What We Offer

  • Health insurance with a $0 deductible, plus dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company-sponsored retirement program
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Career growth and continuous professional development
  • A stable, family-owned company with over 100 years of service

Note: As a Training & Technical Services Director with Plunkett’s, you will undergo a pre-employment background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check upon receiving an employment offer.
