Job Description Summary
Join Service Stream as an HSE Business Partner and play a key role in driving a strong, learning focused safety culture across our telecommunications operations.
About the Role
HSE Business Partner | Telecommunications | Queensland
Join a supportive, high performing HSE team where your experience matters, your ideas are valued, and you can make a genuine difference to workplace safety.
About Service Stream
Service Stream is an ASX 300 listed company and one of Australia's leading providers of essential infrastructure services, delivering critical telecommunications, utilities and transport infrastructure across the country.
With a strong national presence and a diverse portfolio of major clients, we provide exciting career opportunities for people who want to contribute to meaningful projects while being part of a business committed to safety, innovation and continuous improvement.
About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HSE Business Partner to join our Telecommunications HSE team in Queensland.
This is a predominantly field based role where you will work closely with operational leaders, field crews and subcontractors to influence positive safety behaviours, strengthen risk management and support the delivery of safe work outcomes.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about safety, enjoys being out in the field and understands that effective HSE leadership is about more than compliance. It's about building relationships, having meaningful conversations and helping people make better decisions.
You will join an experienced and collaborative national HSE team that genuinely supports one another, shares knowledge and encourages fresh thinking. We value initiative, professional development and, importantly, a healthy work life balance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Partner with operational leaders, field teams and subcontractors to provide practical HSE advice, coaching and support.
- Maintain a strong field presence, conducting safety interactions, inspections and critical control verifications.
- Support incident investigations, identify contributing factors and drive meaningful improvements.
- Participate in audits, assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyse safety performance and emerging trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the implementation of HSE systems, standards and initiatives across telecommunications operations.
- Champion a positive learning culture in safety by encouraging open reporting, meaningful conversations and continuous improvement.
About You
You're a proactive, approachable safety professional who can build strong relationships and positively influence people at all levels of an organisation.
You understand the importance of compliance but also recognise that the best safety outcomes come from engaging with people, understanding how work is actually performed and finding practical solutions.
Ideally, you will bring:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in an HSE role.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent as a minimum.
- Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Incident investigation training, preferably ICAM Lead Investigator.
- Strong communication, problem solving and report writing skills.
- A current Australian driver's licence and Construction White Card.
Why Join Our Team?
We believe great safety outcomes start with great people, and we're committed to creating an environment where our HSE professionals can thrive.
Our progressive HSE team embraces Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles, encourages curiosity and challenges traditional approaches to safety. We focus on understanding work as done, learning from everyday operations and creating an environment where people feel comfortable speaking up, sharing experiences and contributing to safer ways of working.
Here's what you can expect:
- A genuinely supportive team: Join a national network of experienced HSE professionals who collaborate, share ideas and look out for one another.
- Work life balance: We recognise the importance of balancing professional responsibilities with life outside work.
- A role where you can make an impact: Your advice, experience and ideas will help shape how safety is managed across our operations.
- Strong leadership support: Work with leaders who recognise the value of HSE and are committed to improving safety performance.
- Professional growth: Opportunities to broaden your experience, develop your capabilities and contribute to national safety initiatives.
- Variety and autonomy: Enjoy a diverse role with the flexibility to manage your priorities while remaining connected to a supportive team.
- A people focused safety culture: Be part of a team that values practical risk management, genuine engagement and continuous learning.
Ready to Make a Difference?
If you're looking for an opportunity to be part of a progressive, supportive HSE team where you can make a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.
